Open Streets is September, 24th 12pm-4pm

Open Streets ICT is a FREE community-building event that closes four miles of Douglas Avenue to traffic and opens the iconic street to biking, walking, running, dancing, yoga, and more! All Wichitans are invited to join in the fun, and to stop at the local Douglas Avenue businesses, restaurants, street vendors, and the five major activity hubs situated every mile along the four-mile stretch.

Check out the activity centers spaced along the Open Streets route.


Make playtime active for kids of all ages with the Pop-Up playground, inflatables, Barry’s Recreation Station, sidewalk chalk, Zumba party and kid-friendly live music.


Visit Wichita’s original high school — East High School. Enjoy activities and games brought to you by the historic school’s faculty and students. Visit local businesses and vendors for added fun.


Dance with the KMUW crew to music featured at the OldTown Concert Series. See square dancing performances and enjoy “adult” or “kid-style” frozen snow cones and a variety of food trucks.


Get the party started at the opening ceremony emceed by KAKE-TV news personalities. Listen to a local music concert provided by Barleycorn’s and get active with games and mini-golf.


Bring the whole family for a block party with carnival games, music, inflatables, cake walk, and arts and crafts, or stop in for live music at the Shamrock Lounge.

Along with visiting the Activity Hubs placed along Douglas Avenue, there will also be many restaurants, businesses and organizations participating during Open Streets. Each location will be doing something unique and fun only on September 24 from 12pm-4pm. Search each category to see whats coming during Open Streets!
